When something symbolizes luck, it’s hard not to collect that something. Scattered around my studio are feathers found while at the beach, on a trail up a 4000’ mountain, and those found in town lying on a sidewalk. I took my favorites from the collection and started sketching them, knowing they would become a print in the future. A year later, the feather collection was released.

Printed in metallic copper, with oil based inks, these feathers are shimmer like bits of pyrite on this lapis colored paper. The deckled edges and texture of this handmade lokta paper are the perfect accent for my feather collection.

These prints measure 8” x 9.5”. The blue of the papers is a deep lapis with bits of bark throughout. Lokta paper is handmade in Nepal by using the fibers from the bark of a lokta bush. This bush grows at 6000’ to 9000’ of elevation. When the bush is cut at 8 inches from the base, it will grow back in 4 years. - I truly love knowing where my materials come from, especially knowing that the makers are also those who have a reciprocal relationship to nature.
