sand + stones necklace no. 1
sand + stones necklace no. 1
the newest addition to my tidal collection further explores textures, shapes and colors we observe while walking the shores of New England beaches. shells with swirls of peach, stones with golden streaks and edges tumbled in the sand and surf, the orange glow of the sunset reflecting off the water, ripples in the tide when one skips stones, ribbons of seaweed left behind in the sand from the last high tide. all of these elements are captured in this necklace.
beaded chain looks like a rock jumping through the glass-like surface of a calm sea. contours of stones collected from the sandy shores are cut from sheets of bronze and silver. agate beads in shades of peach, orange and white with brown inclusions symbolize the sunsets, shells and seaweed.
this necklace is a tactile experience, just like the beach. smooth agate beads move along one to two inch sections of chain. it is soothing, like the ebb and flow of the tide. the beaded chain feels like small pebbles between your fingers. it is meant to move with you, as water moves around obstacles, charting its own course.
I hope this reminds you of peaceful days by the water, the warm rays of the summer sun, and the shells, stones and sand you took home with you.
the chains are sterling silver, each section is soldered to a jump ring, the beads are 6mm and 8mm round and slightly matted natural agate, the “stones” are hand textured and sawn from bronze and silver, as always this necklace closes with a handmade clasp. it is 16.25” long and one of a kind.
please be sure to read my shop policies before making a purchase. thank you for looking at this piece, it was handmade with love.
